About the New York Jets

The Jets started as the Titans of New York, a charter member of the American Football League, and played their first season in 1960 at the Polo Grounds. New ownership renamed the team the Jets in 1963, and they moved to Shea Stadium in Queens the next year.

The 1968 Jets, coached by Weeb Ewbank, won the AFL championship and then Super Bowl III, beating the heavily favored Baltimore Colts 16-7 after quarterback Joe Namath publicly guaranteed a win. The upset showed that AFL teams could beat the NFL's best, and it remains the franchise's only Super Bowl title.

The Jets moved to Giants Stadium in New Jersey in 1984 and to MetLife Stadium in 2010. They have not reached the playoffs since the 2010 season, the NFL's longest active drought. The 2025 team went 3-14 under head coach Aaron Glenn.

The New York Jets play in the AFC East with the Buffalo Bills, the New England Patriots, and the Miami Dolphins.

MetLife Stadium guide

MetLife Stadium is in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in the Meadowlands Sports Complex just outside New York City. It opened in 2010, has no roof and seats about 82,500. The Jets and Giants share it, so the building is reset for each team. On Jets game days the interior lighting turns green, crews install the Jets' end zones, the team's logo is painted at midfield and the long exterior wall at the west entrance shows Jets imagery. In July 2026 the stadium hosted the FIFA World Cup final.

Getting to MetLife Stadium

NJ Transit runs event trains on the Meadowlands Rail Line between Secaucus Junction and Meadowlands station, a short walk from the stadium, and riders from most lines can transfer at Secaucus. Event rail tickets can be bought in the NJ Transit app. Coach USA's 351 Meadowlands Express bus runs from the Port Authority Bus Terminal for Jets home games. Uber and Lyft pickup is in Lot E.

Parking

The Jets require a prepaid parking permit to park at MetLife Stadium, so buy it before game day. Lots open five hours before kickoff, and Jets fans tailgate heavily. Keep the tailgate to your own space, and use only propane or natural gas grills, since New Jersey fire rules ban charcoal and wood fires.

Arrival and entry

Jets games use mobile tickets and the NFL clear-bag policy. Trains and roads fill quickly close to kickoff, and the train platform is crowded right after the game, so plan extra time in both directions. Check newyorkjets.com and metlifestadium.com for gate times and permitted items.

Seating tips at MetLife Stadium

MetLife Stadium has three main bowls: a lower level in the 100s, a mezzanine in the 200s that includes about 10,000 club seats, and an upper level in the 300s. There are also about 218 suites. With no roof, every seat is open to the weather.

At about 82,500 seats, MetLife is one of the largest stadiums in the NFL, so upper-level end zone seats are a long way from the field. For Jets games, lower sideline and mezzanine seats give the closest view of the green-lit bowl and the Jets' painted end zones.

Buying New York Jets tickets on TixBit

Jets demand tends to peak for division games against the Bills, Dolphins and Patriots, prime-time dates and any matchup that draws visiting fans from nearby cities. With so many seats in the building, compare sections carefully on the seat map, especially upper-level sideline against lower end zone, and read quantity and seat notes. Never fees for buyers.
