About the Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals trace their roots to 1898, when the Morgan Athletic Club formed on Chicago's South Side. The team later took the Cardinals name from a set of faded University of Chicago jerseys and joined the American Professional Football Association as a charter member in 1920. The Cardinals and the Chicago Bears are the only two charter members of that 1920 league still in operation.
The franchise won NFL championships in 1925, a title still disputed because of the Pottsville Maroons controversy, and in 1947. It moved to St. Louis in 1960, then to the Phoenix area in 1988, and adopted the Arizona Cardinals name in 1994.
Arizona's best modern run came in the 2008 season, when Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald led the team to Super Bowl XLIII, a 27-23 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. After a 3-14 finish in 2025, the Cardinals hired former Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur as head coach in February 2026.
The Arizona Cardinals play in the NFC West with the San Francisco 49ers, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Los Angeles Rams.
State Farm Stadium guide
State Farm Stadium sits in Glendale, Arizona, a suburb west of Phoenix, next to the Westgate Entertainment District. It opened in 2006 as Cardinals Stadium, was known as University of Phoenix Stadium from 2006 to 2018, and took its current name under an 18-year naming deal signed in 2018. It seats about 63,400 for football and can expand to about 72,200 for major events. The building has a retractable fabric roof and a natural grass field that rolls outside the stadium when not in use. It has hosted three Super Bowls (XLII, XLIX and LVII). Recent renovations added two end zone clubs, the Casitas Garden Club on the south end and the Morgan Athletic Club on the north end.
Getting to State Farm Stadium
Most fans reach Glendale by car or rideshare, since the stadium is well west of downtown Phoenix. The team lists a rideshare and friends-and-family drop-off and pick-up area south of the stadium in the Black Lot.
Parking
The team states that a parking pass is required to park at State Farm Stadium, so plan to buy one before game day. Wikipedia counts roughly 14,000 on-site spaces plus about 12,000 in adjacent areas. Tailgating is allowed once lots open, with team rules asking fans to stay within one stall, keep activities behind the vehicle and not save spaces.
Arrival and entry
The stadium follows the NFL clear-bag policy, and Cardinals tickets are mobile, stored in the team's ticketing app. The venue is cashless, with reverse ATMs available for fans carrying cash. Check the Cardinals' game-day pages for gate opening times and the prohibited items list before you head out.
Seating tips at State Farm Stadium
State Farm Stadium has three main seating tiers: the 100 level lower bowl, the 200 level club seats and the 400 level upper deck, with suites and lofts between them. Sideline sections in the lower bowl offer the closest view of the benches. End zone seating includes the new clubs at each end.
The front rows of the 400 level are known as the Ring of Honor seats, and they sit below the section entrances, which makes them easy to reach. Rows above the entrance require a climb. Because the stadium has a retractable roof, check the team's site if roof status matters to you.
Buying Arizona Cardinals tickets on TixBit
NFC West games against the Rams, 49ers and Seahawks usually draw the biggest Glendale crowds, and visiting fans often travel in numbers for them. Prime-time games and late-season matchups with playoff stakes also draw well. Compare sideline and end zone sections on the seat map, and read the seat notes and quantity options so your group sits together. Never fees for buyers.
