San Francisco 49ers Tickets

The 49ers were founded in 1944 and began play in 1946 as a charter member of the All-America Football Conference. They joined the NFL in 1950 when the AAFC merged into the league, and spent their early decades at Kezar Stadium before moving to Candlestick Park in 1971.

The franchise's peak came in the 1980s and 1990s. Bill Walsh, whose West Coast offense spread across the league, won three Super Bowls (XVI, XIX and XXIII), and George Seifert added two more (XXIV and XXIX). Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Steve Young and Ronnie Lott are among the Hall of Famers from that run.

Kyle Shanahan has coached the team since 2017, reaching Super Bowls LIV and LVIII, both losses. In 2025 the 49ers went 12-5, won a Wild Card game at Philadelphia and then lost 41-6 at Seattle in the Divisional Round.

Levi's Stadium is in Santa Clara, California, about 40 miles south of San Francisco in the heart of Silicon Valley. It opened in 2014, replacing Candlestick Park, and seats about 68,500, with expansion to about 75,000 for major events. It is an open-air stadium with no roof. Levi's has hosted Super Bowl 50 in 2016 and Super Bowl LX in February 2026, when Seattle beat New England, and it was a venue for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

VTA light rail stops at Great America station on the north side of the stadium, and it is the most direct transit option. Caltrain riders from San Francisco and the Peninsula transfer to VTA light rail at Mountain View. ACE trains from the Central Valley and Tri-Valley and Capitol Corridor trains from Sacramento and the East Bay stop at the Santa Clara Great America station nearby. VTA buses also serve Tasman Drive.

Wikipedia counts about 31,600 parking spaces around the stadium, including fairways at the Santa Clara Golf and Tennis Club. The stadium says pay-on-arrival lots are limited on event day and may cost more than prepaid passes, so buying parking ahead of time is the safer plan. Check the stadium's parking FAQ for current tailgating rules.

Levi's Stadium enforces the NFL clear-bag policy and uses mobile tickets. Arriving early helps, since light rail and parking lot crowds reach the gates at the same time. Check levisstadium.com for gate times and the full prohibited items list.

Levi's Stadium has an unusual asymmetric layout. Most suites are stacked in a tower along the west sideline, while the east side holds most of the general seating. About two thirds of fans sit in the lower bowl, with club and upper-deck seating above it.

Sun matters here. Wikipedia notes that the east side, where most fans sit, is fully exposed during afternoon games because there are no overhangs. The west side sits in the shadow of the suite tower. For early kickoffs in September and October, hats, sunscreen and water are worth planning for on the east side and in the end zones.

The Seahawks and Rams are the biggest division draws at Levi's, especially after Seattle ended San Francisco's 2025 season. Prime-time games attract crowds from across the Bay Area. Compare shaded west-side sections with east-side seats on the seat map, and check quantity options and seat notes so your group sits together. Never fees for buyers.
