Detroit Lions Tickets

The franchise started in Ohio as the Portsmouth Spartans and joined the NFL in 1930. It moved to Detroit in 1934 and became the Lions, a name borrowed in spirit from the city's baseball Tigers. That same year the team played its first Thanksgiving Day game, and aside from 1939 through 1944 it has hosted one every year since.

Detroit won NFL championships in 1935, 1952, 1953 and 1957, the 1950s titles coming with quarterback Bobby Layne. The Lions have never played in a Super Bowl. Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson are the most recognized players of the modern era.

Dan Campbell was hired as head coach in January 2021, and the rebuild under him and quarterback Jared Goff produced NFC North titles in 2023 and 2024 along with the club's first playoff wins since the 1991 season.

Ford Field is in downtown Detroit at 2000 Brush Street, next to Comerica Park. It opened in 2002, replacing the Pontiac Silverdome, and is a domed stadium with a fixed roof, so weather does not affect games. Capacity is about 65,000 for football. The building folds in a 1920s Hudson's warehouse along the south side, and the field sits well below street level to keep the stadium's profile low. A roughly $100 million renovation in 2017 added new video boards and premium areas, and Ford Field hosted the 2024 NFL Draft.

Because the stadium is downtown, many fans walk from nearby garages, bars and hotels. The Detroit People Mover loop has a Broadway station close to the stadium, and the QLine streetcar on Woodward Avenue stops at Grand Circus Park and Montcalm Street, a short walk away. DDOT and SMART buses also run downtown. Check each operator's game-day schedule before relying on it.

Lots and decks around Ford Field and Comerica Park fill first come, first served and generally open about four hours before kickoff, and parking can also be booked ahead online. Tailgating and re-entry are not allowed in the parking facilities next to the stadium.

Entry is by mobile ticket, and the NFL clear-bag policy applies. Downtown streets get crowded on game days, particularly on Thanksgiving, so give yourself extra time. Check the Ford Field and Lions websites for gate times and any game-specific notes before you go.

Ford Field is laid out in three main tiers: the 100 level lower bowl, a 200 level with club seating, and a 300 level upper deck. The stadium's two sidelines are not symmetrical. Most suites are built into the old warehouse on the south sideline, while the bulk of the grandstand seating runs along the north sideline and around both end zones.

Everything is indoors, so there is no sun or cold to plan around. Lower sideline sections put you closest to the benches, and the upper end zone and corner sections are the usual choice for fans who want a full view of plays developing.

The Thanksgiving Day game is usually the most requested Lions ticket of the year, and division games against the Bears, Packers and Vikings follow close behind. Recent winning seasons have raised demand across the schedule. Compare lower-bowl and upper-deck sections on the seat map, check which sideline a section is on, and read the quantity and seat notes before checkout. Never fees for buyers.
