About the Green Bay Packers

Curly Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun founded the Packers in Green Bay on August 11, 1919, and the team joined the American Professional Football Association, the forerunner of the NFL, in 1921. Since 1923 the club has been organized as Green Bay Packers, Inc., owned by community shareholders. It is the only nonprofit, community-owned major league team in the United States.

Green Bay holds 13 league championships, the most in NFL history. Eleven are pre-Super Bowl NFL titles, including five under Vince Lombardi in the 1960s, and four are Super Bowl wins: I and II after the 1966 and 1967 seasons, XXXI after 1996 with Brett Favre, and XLV after 2010 with Aaron Rodgers.

Matt LaFleur has been head coach since 2019. Hall of Famers Don Hutson, Bart Starr and Reggie White are also part of the club's history.

The Green Bay Packers play in the NFC North with the Detroit Lions, the Chicago Bears, and the Minnesota Vikings.

Lambeau Field guide

Lambeau Field is on Lombardi Avenue in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It opened in 1957 as City Stadium and was renamed in 1965 for the team's founder, and it is the oldest continually operating stadium in the NFL. The stadium is owned by the City of Green Bay. It is open-air and holds about 81,400, second in the league. A 2001 to 2003 renovation added the Atrium, and a 2013 south end zone expansion added about 7,500 seats. The neighboring Titletown district hosted the 2025 NFL Draft.

Getting to Lambeau Field

Green Bay has no rail service to the stadium, so most fans drive, ride with friends or use a bus. Free game-day bus routes run from about five hours before kickoff to three hours after, and regional charter buses come in from other parts of Wisconsin. Rideshare pickup is near the east and south gates at Mike McCarthy Way and Holmgren Way.

Parking

The stadium-operated lots are reserved for season parking pass holders. For single games, a limited number of passes are sold in advance for Lot 15 in Titletown, where tailgating is not allowed, and other operators take reservations for nearby lots. Many homeowners and businesses around the stadium sell yard parking, and some residential streets allow free parking within walking distance. In the stadium lots, tailgating is a long tradition, limited to the space behind your vehicle and ending at kickoff. The whole stadium, parking included, is cashless.

Arrival and entry

Every fan enters with a mobile ticket, and the Packers follow the NFL clear-bag policy. Gates generally open two hours before kickoff, and the Atrium opens earlier for some games. Late-season games can be very cold, so plan clothing for a long walk and a seat outdoors, and check packers.com for the current gameday guide.

Seating tips at Lambeau Field

Much of Lambeau's bowl is still aluminum bench seating. The Packers list sections 100 to 138 and 300 to 354 as bleacher sections, and fans in those seats can rent a seat back at the gates or bring their own. The first rows behind each end zone are where players make the Lambeau Leap after touchdowns.

The 2013 south end zone expansion added upper seating with individual chair backs, and the north end has indoor seating. Nothing is covered in the main bowl, so every bench seat is exposed to Green Bay weather.

Buying Green Bay Packers tickets on TixBit

Games against the Bears, one of the NFL's oldest rivalries, are usually the hardest Packers tickets to find, with the Vikings and Lions close behind. Prime-time games and December cold also draw interest. The team has sold out every game since 1960, and the season ticket waiting list runs well over 100,000 names. Compare bench and chair-back sections on the seat map and check the quantity and seat notes. Never fees for buyers.
