About the New England Patriots

The Patriots began as the Boston Patriots, a charter member of the American Football League founded in 1959, and played their first season in 1960. They joined the NFL in the 1970 merger, moved to Foxborough, Massachusetts, in 1971 and became the New England Patriots that year.

From 2000 to 2019, head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady built the league's longest-running contender. New England won six Super Bowls in that span: XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIX, LI and LIII, tying Pittsburgh for the most in NFL history. The 2007 team went 16-0 in the regular season before losing Super Bowl XLII to the Giants.

After several lean years following Brady's departure, Mike Vrabel's first season as coach turned things around. With Drake Maye at quarterback, the 2025 Patriots went 14-3, beat Denver in the AFC Championship Game and lost Super Bowl LX to Seattle, 29-13, in February 2026. It was the franchise's 12th Super Bowl appearance.

The New England Patriots play in the AFC East with the Buffalo Bills, the Miami Dolphins, and the New York Jets.

Gillette Stadium guide

Gillette Stadium is in Foxborough, Massachusetts, about 22 miles southwest of Boston and 18 miles northeast of Providence. It opened in 2002 next to the site of the old Foxboro Stadium and holds about 65,000 for football. The stadium is open-air with no roof. A renovation finished in 2023 added a large video board and a 218-foot lighthouse at the north end along with new hospitality space. Gillette also hosts the New England Revolution and was a 2026 FIFA World Cup venue. The Patriot Place shopping and dining complex sits beside it on Route 1.

Getting to Gillette Stadium

Foxborough is a suburban drive for most fans, and Route 1 traffic builds well before kickoff. The MBTA runs special event commuter rail trains to Foxboro station, next to the stadium, for many events, so check the schedule for your game. Uber and Lyft drop-off and pickup is in Lot 15, near the CVS Health Gate.

Parking

Gillette's lots open four hours before Patriots kickoffs. Stadium-side prepaid passes are reserved for season ticket members and are sold out for 2026, so most single-game buyers use the general lots. Tailgating is common, and the stadium's rules require fires to stay in a proper, movable grill or burner, with no open fire pits.

Arrival and entry

Patriots games use mobile tickets and the NFL clear-bag policy. With the lots opening hours early and traffic on Route 1, many fans arrive well ahead of kickoff and spend time at Patriot Place. Check gillettestadium.com for gate times, entry locations and the full list of permitted items.

Seating tips at Gillette Stadium

Gillette Stadium is laid out in a lower level, a club level and an upper level, with suites between them. The 2023 renovation remade the north end zone, adding the video board, the lighthouse and new hospitality space there, so that end has a different look than the south end.

There is no roof, so every seat is exposed to New England weather. Lower sideline seats put you closest to the benches, and upper-level sideline seats give a wider view of the whole field. Compare the north and south ends on the seat map if you are choosing end zone seats.

Buying New England Patriots tickets on TixBit

Coming off a Super Bowl appearance, the Patriots draw strong demand, and the team has sold out every home game since 1994. Division games against the Bills, Dolphins and Jets and prime-time dates are usually the toughest tickets. Late-season games in Foxborough bring cold weather, so dress for it. Compare sections on the seat map and read quantity and seat notes. Never fees for buyers.
