About the Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos began play in 1960 as a charter member of the American Football League and joined the NFL in the 1970 merger. The AFL decade was a hard one: Denver never posted a winning season in that league. The first Super Bowl trip came after the 1977 season, behind the "Orange Crush" defense.

John Elway arrived in 1983 and led the Broncos to five Super Bowls. The last two ended in wins, Super Bowl XXXII over Green Bay and Super Bowl XXXIII over Atlanta, both under Mike Shanahan, the longest-tenured head coach in team history. Peyton Manning's four seasons in Denver produced a third title, a 24-10 win over Carolina in Super Bowl 50 after the 2015 season.

Denver has made eight Super Bowl appearances in all. Sean Payton became head coach in 2023, and the 2025 team went 14-3, earned the AFC's No. 1 seed and reached the AFC Championship Game, where it lost 10-7 to New England.

The Denver Broncos play in the AFC West with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Empower Field at Mile High guide

Empower Field at Mile High sits just west of downtown Denver, Colorado, beside Interstate 25. It opened in 2001, holds about 76,000 fans for football and has no roof, so fans sit in the open air at 5,280 feet. In September 2025 the Broncos named Burnham Yard, a former rail yard in central Denver, as the preferred location for a privately funded new stadium. The team has signed an agreement to buy the land and is aiming to open there in 2031. Until then, Mile High remains home.

Getting to Empower Field at Mile High

RTD light rail is the most practical way in. The C, E and W lines stop at Empower Field at Mile High station, and the W Line also serves Decatur-Federal station on the other side of the stadium, which can be less crowded after the game. Rideshare drop-off is near the stadium, but post-game pickup is at the Ball Arena rideshare lot, about a 15-minute walk away.

Parking

Stadium lots surround the building and are cashless. Pre-purchased passes for the official lots often sell out, so buy ahead if you plan to drive, and check the stadium site for any game-day options. Tailgating is allowed, but a setup must stay within your own space and cannot block drive lanes or walkways. Residential streets nearby are permit-controlled.

Arrival and entry

Tickets are mobile, so load them into the Broncos app or your phone's wallet before you leave home. The NFL clear-bag policy applies at every gate, and the stadium does not allow re-entry once your ticket is scanned. Gate opening times vary by game, so check the stadium's Broncos game-day page before kickoff.

Seating tips at Empower Field at Mile High

Mile High has three main tiers. The 100 level wraps the field at ground level, the 300 level is the United Club with covered rows and indoor lounges, and the 500 level forms the upper deck. Sideline seats in the lower bowl put you closest to the benches, while the 500 level trades distance for a full view of plays developing.

Because the stadium has no roof, every seat is exposed to the weather. Early-season games can be warm in the afternoon, and November and December games can bring snow and freezing temperatures, so dress for the forecast rather than the calendar. The United Club's indoor lounges are the main way to get out of the cold during a game.

Buying Denver Broncos tickets on TixBit

AFC West games against Kansas City, Las Vegas and the Chargers draw the biggest crowds, along with prime-time dates. Late-season games can bring snow and cold, so weigh club access against lower-bowl and upper-deck seats on the seat map. Check the listing notes for row, quantity and any restrictions before you buy. Never fees for buyers.
