About the Indianapolis Colts
The Colts began in Baltimore in 1953 and moved to Indianapolis in 1984. The Baltimore years produced three NFL championships, in 1958, 1959 and 1968. The 1958 title game against the New York Giants was the first NFL championship decided in overtime and is still counted among the most important games in the sport's history. Johnny Unitas, the Hall of Fame quarterback, started for the club from 1956 to 1972.
The Colts have won two Super Bowls. Baltimore beat the Dallas Cowboys 16-13 in Super Bowl V after the 1970 season, and Indianapolis beat the Chicago Bears 29-17 in Super Bowl XLI after the 2006 season. That second title came during the Peyton Manning years (1998 to 2010), when the Colts were a perennial contender and also reached Super Bowl XLIV, losing to New Orleans.
Shane Steichen is the head coach. After Jim Irsay died in 2025, his daughter Carlie Irsay-Gordon became principal owner.
The Indianapolis Colts play in the AFC South with the Houston Texans, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Tennessee Titans.
Lucas Oil Stadium guide
Lucas Oil Stadium sits on South Capitol Avenue in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. It opened in 2008 and seats about 63,000 for football, with room to expand for large events such as the Final Four. The stadium has a retractable roof made of two large panels that can open or close in about 11 minutes, plus a retractable north window that frames a view of the downtown skyline.
Getting to Lucas Oil Stadium
Because the stadium is downtown, many fans walk from hotels, restaurants and garages nearby. IndyGo city buses serve the area, and the Indianapolis Cultural Trail connects the stadium to other parts of downtown. Rideshare pickup and drop-off is on northbound Illinois Street, one block east of the stadium. Bike racks are near the Colts Pro Shop on Capitol Avenue. The Colts suggest arriving downtown well before kickoff because of road closures and game-day traffic.
Parking
The Colts do not run the downtown parking lots. Fans park in the many surface lots and garages around the stadium, and the team's parking partner sells passes for a set of downtown lots in advance. Tailgating rules are set by each lot operator, so check before you bring a grill. The team also hosts a free pregame fan area, Touchdown Town, at the stadium's North Gate on South Street.
Arrival and entry
Colts tickets are digital, so add them to your phone's wallet through the Colts app before you head downtown. The NFL clear-bag policy is in effect, the stadium does not offer bag storage, and re-entry is not allowed once you leave during a game. Check the Colts' game-day A to Z guide for gate opening times and current road closures.
Seating tips at Lucas Oil Stadium
Lucas Oil Stadium is built in three tiers, each split into two numbered bands. The street level holds the 100 and 200 sections, the loge level holds the 300 and 400 sections, and the terrace level holds the 500 and 600 sections at the top of the bowl. The 300 and 400 sections share one concourse, with the 300 rows below the entry tunnels and the 400 rows above.
Club seats run between the 20-yard lines on both sidelines in the lower three bands and include access to two club lounges. With the retractable roof, weather is less of a factor in choosing seats than at open-air stadiums.
Buying Indianapolis Colts tickets on TixBit
Division games against the Texans, Titans and Jaguars and any prime-time home date usually draw the most interest. Because the stadium is compact and downtown, plan your parking along with your seats. Compare the street, loge and terrace levels on the seat map, and check listing notes for quantity rules and seat details. No fees for buyers.
