When to Buy NFL Tickets for the Lowest Price

When to buy NFL tickets: there is no guaranteed cheapest day. Buy early for marquee games, check 2026 flex scheduling, and compare the same seats.

When is the best time to buy NFL tickets for the lowest price? There is no guaranteed cheapest day. Buy early when the game is a holiday, rivalry, or prime-time date, or when you need seats together. Wait only if you can skip the game. Before you buy a game from Week 5 on, check whether its date or kickoff time can still move under NFL flexible scheduling.

This is a decision guide, not a price forecast. TixBit does not publish a measured NFL price curve, and no one can promise that resale prices will fall. The scheduling facts below come from the NFL's 2026 procedures and schedule, reviewed October 15, 2026. Never fees for buyers on TixBit.

When is the best time to buy NFL tickets?

Your situationA practical approachRisk to consider
You are traveling for the game or the date is fixedBuy acceptable seats within your budget once travel is bookedA later price drop may appear, but comparable seats may not
It is a holiday, rivalry, or national prime-time gameBuy early and track the same section rather than the cheapest seatDemand for these dates can stay high all season
You need four or more seats togetherPrioritize the seating arrangement over the per-ticket priceSingle-seat prices do not show what a group can buy
You live near the stadium and can skip the gameWatch the same section and row and set a final price limitLate listings can rise or disappear, and you still need time to transfer
The game is in a flex windowBuy only if you can attend any kickoff time on that weekendThe NFL can move the game to another time or night

Use the same method for every game: match the section, row, and quantity, then compare the final total you would pay. A cheaper single seat in another row is not a price drop on your seats.

When do NFL tickets go on sale?

The NFL released its full 2026 schedule on Thursday, May 14, 2026. Each team runs its own single-game sale. The Cleveland Browns, for example, said its single-game tickets would go on sale at its 7:30 p.m. schedule reveal that night. Cleveland Browns: NFL announces 2026 schedule release date

Resale listings appear once ticket holders can list them. Once the schedule is out, the question for most buyers is when to buy, not when tickets first release.

Do NFL ticket prices drop closer to game day?

Sometimes, but not reliably. Resale prices are set by sellers and move with supply and demand. Asking prices on comparable seats can fall as kickoff approaches, and scarce seats can rise or sell out. Neither is a rule.

Things that can change demand during a season:

  • Standings. A playoff race can raise interest in a late-season game; a lost season can lower it.
  • Schedule changes. A flex into prime time can change who wants the ticket. See the next section.
  • Weather. Cold or wet forecasts can change late demand for outdoor games.
  • Opponent and occasion. Holiday games, rivalries, and visits from teams with large traveling fan bases can attract more buyers.

None of these factors is a forecast. If attending matters, buy suitable seats at a price you accept instead of waiting for a predicted low. Our guide to timing concert tickets walks through the same budget-and-stopping-point method.

How does NFL flex scheduling affect my tickets?

Flexible scheduling lets the NFL move games between kickoff windows during the season. For 2026, it covers Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, and Thursday Night Football. NFL: 2026 Flexible Scheduling Procedures and Scheduling for Week 18

WindowWeeks the NFL can flexNotice the NFL gives
Sunday Night FootballUp to twice in Weeks 5-10; any week in 11-17No later than 12 days ahead in Weeks 5-13
Sunday Night FootballWeeks 14-17Generally no later than 6 days ahead
Monday Night FootballAny week in 12-17No later than 12 days ahead
Thursday Night FootballUp to twice in Weeks 13-17Generally no later than 21 days ahead

Other rules from the same NFL page:

  • Only Sunday afternoon games, or games listed as TBD, can move into a night window. The night game they replace moves to Sunday afternoon.
  • Sunday afternoon games can also move between 1:00 p.m. and 4:05 or 4:25 p.m. ET.
  • Week 18 Saturday and Sunday games are not assigned in advance. The NFL announces the Week 18 schedule after Week 17 ends.

The NFL tells "fans and ticket holders" that games in these windows can change and that they "should plan accordingly." A flex changes when the game is played, not which game your ticket is for. On TixBit, venue, seat, or schedule changes are not cancellations unless the event organizer declares the event canceled. See the TixBit Guarantee.

Which 2026 NFL games can still be flexed?

As of October 15, 2026, the flex windows still ahead include these TixBit guides:

How do I buy NFL tickets on the resale market?

  1. Match the game. Confirm the teams, date, stadium, and listed kickoff. Parking passes and watch parties can carry the same team names.
  2. Read the seats shown. Check the section, row, quantity, and any view restriction. What you see is what you get. Real seats. Real sections. No phantom rows.
  3. Check delivery. Ticketmaster's NFL help page says fans display tickets from the Ticketmaster app or a mobile wallet, and that screenshots and printouts "will not be accepted for NFL games." Ticketmaster: NFL Tickets: Everything you need to know Accept the transfer before game day. Our mobile ticket transfer guide has the steps.
  4. Compare the final total. Never fees for buyers on TixBit: the price you see is what you pay. If you check another site, match the same seats and compare final totals. The ticket resale fee comparison explains how.
  5. Set your stopping point. Decide your maximum total and latest purchase date before you start watching prices.
