About the Pittsburgh Steelers

Art Rooney founded the franchise on July 8, 1933, and it played its first NFL season that year as the Pittsburgh Pirates. The club renamed itself the Steelers before the 1940 season. The Rooney family has controlled the team since its founding, and Art Rooney II serves as president.

Chuck Noll, head coach from 1969 to 1991, built the teams that won four Super Bowls in six seasons: IX, X, XIII and XIV. The "Steel Curtain" defense, with Joe Greene and Jack Lambert, defined that era. Bill Cowher added a fifth title in Super Bowl XL after the 2005 season, and Mike Tomlin won Super Bowl XLIII after the 2008 season. The Steelers also lost Super Bowl XXX to Dallas and Super Bowl XLV to Green Bay.

Tomlin stepped down after the 2025 season, ending a run that began in 2007. Mike McCarthy was hired as head coach in January 2026.

The Pittsburgh Steelers play in the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens, the Cincinnati Bengals, and the Cleveland Browns.

Acrisure Stadium guide

Acrisure Stadium is on Pittsburgh's North Shore in Pennsylvania, across the Allegheny River from downtown. It opened in 2001 as Heinz Field and was renamed in 2022. The open-air stadium seats about 68,400, and its open south end looks out on the downtown skyline. The University of Pittsburgh Panthers also play home games here. For 2026 the field switched from Kentucky bluegrass to a Bermuda grass surface.

Getting to Acrisure Stadium

The T light rail stops at Allegheny station, a short walk from the stadium, and North Side station also serves the area. Rides between downtown stations and the North Shore are in the system's fare-free zone. On game days the Gateway Clipper Fleet runs a riverboat shuttle from Station Square to the stadium.

Parking

Parking on the North Shore around the stadium is largely pre-sold, so buy a pass in advance if you want to park close. Passes are delivered by mobile and scanned on entry. The Champions Garage added more than 400 spaces, but tailgating is not allowed inside it. Many fans park in downtown garages and take the T across the river.

Arrival and entry

Tickets are mobile, so have them on your phone before you get in line. The stadium follows the NFL clear-bag policy, and its security guidelines list what can and cannot come inside. Check the stadium's fan guide for gate opening times before game day.

Seating tips at Acrisure Stadium

Acrisure Stadium is organized into a lower level, a club level, a suite level and an upper level, with 129 suites and about 6,600 club seats. Named club spaces include the UPMC Club, West Club, PNC Champions Club and North Club. Lower-level sideline seats give the most balanced view of the field.

Seats facing the open south end, and many upper-level seats, look toward the downtown skyline and the rivers. The upper level sits well above the field but shows the full play. There is no roof, so late-season games are played in the open air.

Buying Pittsburgh Steelers tickets on TixBit

Games against the Ravens and Browns are usually the hardest Steelers home tickets, with the Bengals series close behind. Prime-time games and December matchups with playoff stakes also draw strong demand, and 2026 is the first season under Mike McCarthy. Compare lower-level sideline, club and upper sections on the seat map, and check each listing's quantity and seat notes. Never fees for buyers.
