About the New Orleans Saints
The NFL awarded New Orleans a franchise on November 1, 1966, All Saints' Day, and the Saints began play in 1967. The name comes from the jazz standard "When the Saints Go Marching In." The team played at Tulane Stadium through 1974 and moved into the Superdome in 1975.
Success came slowly. The Saints' first playoff win arrived on January 8, 2000, a 31-28 victory over the defending champion St. Louis Rams. After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the team played that season's home games at Tiger Stadium, the Alamodome, and Giants Stadium. In 2006 the Saints signed quarterback Drew Brees and hired coach Sean Payton, and after the 2009 season they beat the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV, still their only Super Bowl appearance.
Payton coached the team through the 2021 season with a 152-89 regular-season record. Kellen Moore became head coach in February 2025.
The New Orleans Saints play in the NFC South with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Carolina Panthers.
Caesars Superdome guide
The Caesars Superdome is at 1500 Sugar Bowl Drive in downtown New Orleans, Louisiana. It opened in 1975 as the Louisiana Superdome, was renamed the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in 2011, and took its current name in 2021. The fixed dome is 680 feet in diameter, and the building seats about 73,000 for football, expandable to about 76,000. A roughly $450 million renovation that began in 2020 replaced the old ramp system with atriums, improved concourses, and added field-level end zone boxes, with phases finished before the stadium hosted Super Bowl LIX in February 2025. The Superdome also hosts the Bayou Classic.
Getting to Caesars Superdome
Many fans walk from hotels in the Central Business District and the French Quarter. The RTA's Rampart-Loyola streetcar stops on Poydras Street by the Superdome, and Canal Street and St. Charles streetcar stops are within walking distance. Union Passenger Terminal, served by Amtrak and Greyhound, is nearby. Rideshare pickup and drop-off is usually on Poydras Street, but the zone can change by event, so check the stadium site.
Parking
The Superdome's own garages, Garages 1, 2, 5, and 6 plus Champions Garage, have limited spaces that are available only to season ticket holders. Most other fans buy parking in advance or use one of the many Central Business District garages and lots within walking distance. For 2026 home games, vehicles using the lanes closest to the building go through enhanced security screening, so allow extra time if your pass is for one of those lanes.
Arrival and entry
Saints tickets are mobile, and the NFL clear-bag policy applies. The renovation replaced the Superdome's exterior ramps with atriums, so older guides may describe entry routes that no longer exist. Check the Caesars Superdome website for gate times and current entry information before you head downtown.
Seating tips at Caesars Superdome
The Superdome is fully enclosed, so no seat is exposed to weather. Its official level maps run from the Plaza Level, the lower bowl closest to the field, up through the Loge Level and two suite levels to the Lower and Upper Terrace levels at the top. Plaza sideline seats are the closest to the benches, Loge seats include club options along each sideline, and Terrace seats are the highest and most numerous.
Renovation work in 2021 removed about 4,300 seats to widen concourses and improve amenities, and the project added field-level end zone boxes.
Buying New Orleans Saints tickets on TixBit
The Saints and Falcons have played twice a year for decades, and that game plus prime-time kickoffs tend to draw the most demand in New Orleans. Home games against other NFC South rivals and teams with large traveling fan bases can also fill the building. Compare Plaza, Loge, and Terrace sections on the seat map, and check each listing's quantity and seat notes before you buy. Never fees for buyers.
