About the Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons were founded in 1965 and joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1966. They played their first 26 seasons at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, moved indoors to the Georgia Dome in 1992, and have played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium since 2017.

Atlanta has reached the Super Bowl twice. The 1998 "Dirty Birds" under Dan Reeves, with Chris Chandler at quarterback and Jamal Anderson at running back, lost Super Bowl XXXIII to the Denver Broncos. The 2016 team, led by NFL MVP Matt Ryan, built a 28-3 lead over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI and lost 34-28 in overtime. The franchise has six division titles, the most recent in 2016.

Arthur Blank owns the team. Kevin Stefanski was hired in January 2026 as the franchise's 20th head coach, replacing Raheem Morris after two seasons.

The Atlanta Falcons play in the NFC South with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the New Orleans Saints, and the Carolina Panthers.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium guide

Mercedes-Benz Stadium is in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, beside the Georgia World Congress Center. It opened in August 2017 and seats about 71,000 for football, expandable to about 75,000. The retractable roof is made of eight translucent triangular panels designed to look like a bird's wings when open. The former Georgia Dome site next door is now The Home Depot Backyard, an 11-acre green space. The stadium also hosts Atlanta United, is a 2026 FIFA World Cup venue that includes a semifinal, and is scheduled to host Super Bowl LXII in 2028.

Getting to Mercedes-Benz Stadium

MARTA rail is the most direct option. SEC District Station, formerly GWCC/CNN Center, on the Blue and Green lines is the closest stop, and Vine City Station on the same lines is the second closest. The MARTA Rapid A-Line bus stops at South Downtown, a short walk away. The stadium runs two rideshare zones, one near the Georgia World Congress Center and one in South Downtown, and offers free bike valet for Falcons games.

Parking

The stadium lists more than 20,000 parking spaces within a 20-minute walk, and Falcons game parking is sold in advance through the stadium's official parking site rather than at the lot. Passes often sell out before game day. Tailgating is allowed in designated surface lots but not in the covered Red and Silver decks, and The Home Depot Backyard is the main tailgating space next to the stadium. RVs and other oversized vehicles are not allowed in the Backyard.

Arrival and entry

The NFL clear-bag policy applies, and the stadium says arriving without a bag is the quickest way through security. Tickets are mobile, so load them in the team's ticketing app or your phone's wallet before you reach the gate. Gate opening times vary by event, so check the Mercedes-Benz Stadium website or app on game day.

Seating tips at Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Mercedes-Benz Stadium has a lower bowl, a middle tier of club seats and about 190 suites, and an upper deck. Lower sideline seats between the 20-yard lines give the most balanced view of both ends, while end zone seats put you close to scoring plays at one end and farther from the other.

The upper concourse includes the 100 Yard Club, a social area that gives fans in upper sections a place to watch while standing. Because the building has a roof, weather is less of a factor than at open-air stadiums, so choosing a section comes down to angle, height, and budget.

Buying Atlanta Falcons tickets on TixBit

Falcons home games against NFC South rivals, especially the New Orleans Saints, and prime-time kickoffs tend to draw the most demand. Non-division games early in the season may offer more choice of sections and quantities. Compare sideline, end zone, and upper-deck sections on the seat map, and read each listing's quantity and seat notes to confirm whether seats are together. Never fees for buyers.
