Event dates below come from TixBit's live listings, checked October 21, 2026. Arena policies come from the KFC Yum! Center A-Z guide and its directions and parking page, reviewed the same day. About the arena
The KFC Yum! Center sits at 1 Arena Plaza on Main Street between 2nd and 3rd streets, on the Ohio River waterfront. It opened on October 10, 2010, and is owned by the Louisville Arena Authority. Seating for basketball is 22,090, which makes it one of the largest arenas in the country built mainly for basketball. The building's attendance record for any event is 23,085, set by Metallica on March 9, 2019 (Wikipedia).
Because the arena is basketball-first, concert layouts vary. An end-stage show closes the seats behind the stage, while a center-stage or in-the-round show like a comedy set can sell nearly every seat. The arena posts a show-specific map for many concerts on its seating charts page, and each TixBit event page shows the listings available for that show.
Parking at the KFC Yum! Center
The arena lists these options:
- The garage under the arena. A multi-level garage beneath the building is operated by PARC, Louisville's parking authority. It is the closest option and, with the Galt House garage, one of two with direct indoor access to the arena.
- Galt House garage. Guests who park at the Galt House Hotel enter through a skywalk. Both this garage and the arena garage are ADA accessible.
- Prebooked lots. The arena points fans to ParkWhiz to reserve a spot by event, which is worth doing for sellouts and Saturday games.
- Surface lots and street parking within walking distance across downtown.
Some events on TixBit also list parking passes as their own listing, for example Pentatonix parking on November 16. If a pass is listed for your event, it shows up next to the event in search.
The arena also encourages walking, biking, transit, rideshare and carpooling, and points drivers to LouisvilleKY.gov for road closures. Downtown fills up fast when a big concert overlaps with other downtown events, so build in extra time.
KFC Yum! Center bag policy
This is the rule that most often sends people back to their cars:
- Bags must be no larger than 14 x 14 x 6 inches.
- Backpacks of any kind are prohibited, including drawstring bags, fanny packs, computer bags and camera bags.
- Medical and parenting bags are allowed and are searched.
- Every bag is searched at entry.
A small purse or clutch under the size limit is the safe choice. Leave backpacks at home or in the car.
Entry, tickets and what to bring
- Metal detectors. Every guest walks through a metal detector, so allow extra time at the doors.
- No re-entry. Once you are in, leaving ends your night.
- Door times vary by event. The promoter or artist sets them; check your event listing.
- Mobile tickets. All Louisville Athletics tickets are digital, and many concerts are mobile only. Add your ticket to your phone's wallet before you arrive. If you are buying resale, our guide to mobile ticket transfer explains how tickets move from seller to buyer, and the glossary defines mobile transfer.
- Cashless. The arena does not take cash. Cards and Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Google Pay are accepted at concessions and merchandise stands.
- Cameras. Professional cameras, iPads and tablets, camcorders, GoPros and selfie sticks are banned at all events. Whether phones or small cameras can take photos is set by the artist.
- Signs. Handheld signs up to 11 x 17 inches are allowed at most events; they cannot be hung up.
- Alcohol. Sodexo Live! serves alcohol to guests 21 and over with a valid ID, with a limit of two drinks per person per purchase. No outside alcohol.
Accessibility
The arena is equipped with accessible entrances and seating. Wheelchair and mobility-accessible seats can be bought in person at the box office or through the primary ticketing site, and hearing or vision-assisted seating can be arranged through the KFC Yum! Center ticket office at (502) 690-9090. If you need an accessible seat on the day of the show, the Guest Relations window at the box office can exchange seats, subject to availability.
The accessible drop-off is in front of the arena on Main Street between 2nd and 3rd streets, with ramps on the Pepsi Plaza leading to the main entrance. The KFC Yum! Center was certified Sensory Inclusive by KultureCity in 2018. Sensory bags with noise-canceling headphones are available at the Fan Assistance booth on the main concourse outside Section 102, and a quiet room is on the main concourse outside Section 112.
How to pick seats
- For basketball, lower-level sideline sections give the classic view of the court. Upper-level seats behind the baskets are usually the cheapest way in for a non-conference game, and the building's size means plenty of inventory for most early-season dates.
- For concerts, check whether the show is end-stage. Side sections close to the stage can see the stage at an angle; seats listed with a limited view are worth reading closely. Our glossary covers what obstructed view means on a listing.
- For groups, prioritize seats together over the lowest per-ticket price. A single cheap seat does not tell you what four seats together cost.
- Compare the final price. No fees for buyers on TixBit, so the price on the listing is what you pay. On other sites, compare the total at checkout, not the first number you see. Our ticket resale fee comparison shows how the major marketplaces stack up.
Wondering whether to buy now or wait? Our guide on when to buy concert tickets explains the trade-offs, and the concert ticket buying guide covers the basics end to end. If you are new to resale, read how to avoid ticket scams and what the TixBit guarantee covers.
