The official Winter Classic FAQ lists Thursday, December 31, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. MT at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Treat that as the event time. Confirm the event title, local Mountain time, and the stadium location before you pay. NHL Winter Classic FAQ
This is not a Mammoth home game at Delta Center and not the January 2, 2026 Winter Classic in Miami. Buyers searching NHL Winter Classic 2026 tickets need this December 31 outdoor listing.
Why buyers search Winter Classic tickets now
NHL.com announced Utah's first outdoor game against Colorado at Rice-Eccles Stadium, a football venue that seats more than 54,000 for college games. The FAQ also notes that sight lines are not typical of an indoor hockey rink. That is league context for demand, not a price forecast. That combination is enough to create ticket searches:
- New Year's Eve outdoor game. Buyers looking for Avalanche Winter Classic Rice-Eccles seats need December 31 in Salt Lake City, not a later Delta Center date.
- 2026 date, 2027 event name. Search results mix this listing with the already-played January 2026 Miami Winter Classic. Match the Mammoth-Avalanche event.
- Holiday travel timing. A December 31 afternoon puck drop shortens same-day mobile-transfer time. Confirm delivery before you travel.
An outdoor label does not change how tickets work. You still need the correct event, disclosed seats, a delivery method you can complete, and the full amount shown before payment.
For other Utah or Colorado games, use the Mammoth schedule, the Avalanche schedule, or the sports hub.
How to buy NHL Winter Classic tickets
Use this checklist on TixBit or any other marketplace you compare.
- Match the exact event. Colorado Avalanche at Utah Mammoth. Thursday, December 31, 2026. 4:00 p.m. MT. Rice-Eccles Stadium, Salt Lake City, UT. Open the live Winter Classic event page rather than a Delta Center Mammoth home game.
- Confirm it is a game ticket. Skip parking, watch parties, and hospitality add-ons unless that is what you intend to buy.
- Read the seats that are shown. Check quantity, section, row, seat numbers, and any view or age restriction on the listing. What you see is what you get: real seats, real sections, no phantom rows.
- Check delivery. The official FAQ calls this a fully mobile ticket event. Mobile transfer can require an account and an accepted transfer in the primary issuer's app. Accept the transfer before you travel to Rice-Eccles Stadium.
- Compare the amount shown before payment. On TixBit there are never fees for buyers. What you see is what you pay. That is not a claim that TixBit is always the lowest total. If you check another site, match the same section, row, quantity, restrictions, and delivery, then compare the final disclosed totals.
A no-fee label does not settle the price question. Our ticket resale fee comparison explains how to compare the payable total across marketplaces.
TixBit listings are covered by the TixBit Guarantee. Read the current terms for canceled or unfulfilled orders before you check out.
What to check on a Rice-Eccles Stadium listing
Rice-Eccles Stadium is listed on TixBit at Rice-Eccles Stadium, Salt Lake City. Use that venue page when you want the building's upcoming events. Use the Winter Classic event page when you want this specific outdoor game.
Before you pay, confirm:
- Venue name: Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, not Delta Center and not a Colorado home building.
- Date: December 31, 2026 is the New Year's Eve outdoor game. January 2, 2026 was the Miami Winter Classic.
- Section map: A generic NHL chart is not enough. The FAQ warns that football-stadium sight lines differ from an indoor rink. Use the seat map on the event page.
- Row and seat disclosure: If a listing hides the row, treat it as a different product from a fully disclosed seat.
- Quantity: Compare the order total for the number of tickets you need, not a single-seat headline.
- Restrictions: Limited view, standing room, weather exposure, club access, and age rules belong in the listing details, not in a later surprise.
Browse all events only if you still need to find the game. Once you have it, stay on the event page until checkout.
