Petco Park has a field level and a Toyota Terrace level. At Padres games, guests must sit in their ticketed locations. The listed baseball seating capacity is 39,860. The Padres list Guest Services Centers on the Field Level main concourse at Section 108 and Section 131, and another at Section 303.
The Western Metal Supply Co. building, a restored warehouse, sits at the left field foul pole and includes rooftop seating. Gallagher Square has grass viewing areas beyond the outfield fence. The renovated square also includes the Tony Gwynn Terrace viewing deck and picnic space.
Sun and shade vary by section. The Padres publish a sun and shade seating map, and seats range from full sun to full shade. Under the overhangs on the field level, the ballpark has mini scoreboards and TVs for guests in the back rows of those sections.
MTS recommends the UC San Diego Blue or Orange line to 12th & Imperial Transit Center, or the Green line to Gaslamp Quarter. Both stations are within walking distance of Petco Park. The main entrance behind home plate is at Park Boulevard and Imperial Avenue. The Padres also point fans to the Coaster and buses.
Santa Fe Depot, about a mile away, is served by the Pacific Surfliner and the Coaster commuter train. The Padres say parking near the ballpark is limited and recommend pre-purchasing a spot or taking public transit. On weekends, special events and large crowds, plan on transit or a garage a short walk away.
If you drive, Pacific Highway, Interstate 5, State Route 163 and State Route 94 all feed into downtown. Tailgating is allowed on a limited basis at Tailgate Park. The K Street promenade between Seventh and 10th avenues runs along the back of the outfield seating and leads to Gallagher Square.
For Padres games, gates open 90 minutes before first pitch. Bags are limited to single-compartment clear plastic bags up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches, infant and medical bags, and clutches or purses up to 5 x 7 inches. Concerts and special events can have different rules. For concerts, the Padres list no food or beverages, including water bottles, and no umbrellas, banners, signs or posters.
At baseball games, you may bring food for your own use, but not into restaurants, club lounges or suites. You can also bring one sealed, clear, unflavored plastic water bottle of one liter or less, or an empty, non-glass reusable one-liter bottle. Alcohol cannot be brought in, and the ballpark is smoke-free, including vaping. Re-entry is allowed at baseball games if you scan your digital ticket on the way out and back in.
Children under 36 inches tall get in free at Padres games if they sit on an adult's lap. Service animals are welcome, but emotional support animals are not allowed. Closed captioning of the public address announcements is available in the MLB Ballpark app. A complimentary shuttle for guests with disabilities runs between the Padres Parkade, Tailgate Park, the MTS Garage and the ballpark. Sensory bags are available at Guest Services at Sections 108, 131 and 303 and at the Sensory Activation Vehicle in Park Blvd Plaza.
