How to choose seats at Madison venues
Camp Randall Stadium is an outdoor stadium with a north to south field, so weather matters for football. Fans traditionally dance to "Jump Around" between the third and fourth quarters, which is a good reason to be in your seat by then.
At the Kohl Center, the same arena hosts basketball and hockey, so the view from a section changes with the sport. Check the map for your event, since the floor layout differs between games. LaBahn Arena has a capacity of 2,273, compared with 15,511 for hockey at the Kohl Center.
Overture Hall has four seating levels. The Capitol Theater has main-floor and balcony seating. The Sylvee and the Majestic are club-style rooms, so check the listing to see whether your date is general admission or reserved. High Noon Saloon is general admission with a 250 capacity.
Breese Stevens Field changes between a sports setup of nearly 5,000 seats and a concert setup of up to 9,333, so look at the map for your specific event. It is outdoors, so check the forecast.
When to buy Madison tickets
Badgers football home games bring fans to Camp Randall in the fall, and basketball and hockey games share the Kohl Center calendar with the WIAA state boys basketball and wrestling tournaments. If your trip lands on a Badgers home weekend, book lodging and tickets together.
Forward Madison FC began play in 2019 and plays home matches at Breese Stevens Field, and the field also books concerts, so check both the home match list and the concert list for the month you are visiting.
The Dane County Farmers' Market fills the Capitol Square on Saturday mornings from April to November, so allow time to navigate the Square if you are visiting State Street venues that day.
