How to choose seats at Berkeley venues

The Greek Theatre sells a bowl and a lawn area. Cal Performances lists 8,500 with general admission, split into 6,500 in the bowl and 2,000 on the lawn, and 7,250 when the house is seated. Check each event's map to see whether the bowl is reserved or general admission, and note that the lawn is outdoors.

California Memorial Stadium sits at the foot of the Berkeley hills. Seats on the west side face the hills and Strawberry Canyon, so check which side of the field your section is on before you buy.

Zellerbach Auditorium has 1,984 seats, while the Roda Theatre has orchestra, mezzanine, and loge sections. The Freight has 490 seats. Cornerstone is first come, first served standing room with limited seating unless the show states otherwise.

When to buy Berkeley event tickets

Cal football is played at Memorial Stadium. If you plan to see a concert at the Greek Theatre or a show downtown on a home Saturday, plan your trip early. Berkeley Playhouse warns that street parking near its theater is very limited on Cal football game days.

The Greek Theatre is open seasonally in spring, summer, and fall, so its concerts cluster in those months. The Greek has traditionally hosted the Bonfire Rally before the Big Game against Stanford.

Getting to Berkeley events

Downtown Berkeley BART station is at 2160 Shattuck Ave. Berkeley Rep and The Freight are in the downtown arts district, and the UC Theatre is nearby on University Ave. Cornerstone says it is 3.5 short blocks from BART.

For campus venues such as the Greek Theatre and Memorial Stadium, check UC Berkeley's current Bear Transit routes rather than assuming a weekend shuttle. The Perimeter route operates on weekdays. Downtown Berkeley BART also has AC Transit connections.

Berkeley Playhouse is at College Ave and Derby St and estimates a 20-minute walk from UC Berkeley. It suggests Rockridge BART with the 51B bus, which AC Transit lists as serving College Ave. The Playhouse warns of two-hour street parking limits before 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday; check posted signs for current restrictions.
